Former Falcons offensive coordinator Greg Knapp passes away

On Thursday, former Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Greg Knapp passed away just days after being struck by a motorist while riding his bike in Northern California.

Knapp, 58, took a job with the New York Jets over the offseason to be the team’s new passing game coordinator after serving three years as the quarterbacks coach in Atlanta.

He began coaching in the National Football League for the San Francisco 49ers in 1997 and would eventually be promoted to the team’s offensive coordinator position in 2001. Knapp later joined the Falcons in 2004, spending three seasons as offensive coordinator before holding the same title with the Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks.

In total, Knapp coached for seven different teams as an offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach or passing game coordinator. His impact on the game is undeniable after coaching offense in the NFL for over 20 years.
