Former Falcons linebacker to be inducted into Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame

Former Falcons inside linebacker Buddy Curry is going to be inducted into the Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame tonight, according to the official team website. Curry was a second-round draft pick of the Falcons in 1980 and won the Defensive Rookie of the Year award that year.

These days, Curry is a trainer with USA Football. Here’s what Curry said about his induction:

“I am truly blessed being drafted by Atlanta and the opportunity to play eight years for the Falcons. … I consider it an honor to be an inductee when there are so many great athletes in this city. It’s a true honor.”

Curry went on to play in 109 career games, all with Atlanta. He posted a total of seven interceptions and scored two defensive touchdowns.
