Former factory to be demolished to make way for 50 new houses

Plans to demolish a former factory to make way for almost 50 houses have been given the green light.

Sefton Council has approved a plan for 46 homes to be built at the old Hi-Craft factory site on Sandy Lane in Seaforth .

An objection was received from someone living nearby who was worried about pollution levels, but the local authority said they had given detailed regard to this matter and 'considered the air quality to be acceptable'

Concerns were also raised by the Merseyside and West Lancashire Bat Group, which criticised the Bat Survey Report carried out by the developer.

The council's ecologists, however, said the report was 'sufficiently robust'.

Developers say the house types have been selected to provide variety in size and form but are considered to be reflective of the types of housing required in the borough .

The planning application states that existing access points from Sandy Road and Sandy Lane will be retained and a through-route will be created.

Planning officers have only granted outline permission at this stage.

Details such as appearance, landscaping and layout must later be submitted to the council.
