Former Everton winger outlines the key thing Everton are missing

Former Everton winger Pat Nevin has outlined what his former side must do in order to improve on last season's eighth place finish.

The Blues secured the services of Alex Iwobi on transfer deadline day, as well as signing Andre Gomes, Jonas Lossl, Fabian Delph, Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Moise Kean and Djibril Sidibe during the summer.

And Nevin, who made 109 appearances during a four-year spell at Goodison Park, believes consistency is key in order for the Blues to improve on last year's placing.

“Everton are a centre-back away from being excellent,” the 55-year-old told the Racing Post.

"But with some consistency, can bridge the gaps. There were times last season when they played opponents off the park, other times they were horrible.

“If I was Marco Silva I’d be scouring the Italian top division for a centre-back who can come in and offer that authority they need at the back. Fabian Delph is a good signing, alongside Andre Gomes.”
