Former Everton striker tells Marcel Brands to sign Tottenham Hotspur star

Former Everton striker Marcus Bent has urged Rafael Benitez to make a move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks this summer.

The Toffees have completed deals for Andros Townsend, Demarai Gray and Asmir Begovic so far in the transfer window and are being backed to add to that list of names.

Winks is one player who Everton have been linked with in recent weeks, having fallen out of favour at Spurs.

The 25-year-old started only nine Premier League matches last campaign for the Lilywhites and could be open to a new opportunity, should the chance arise.

Football Insider recently reported that the Tottenham midfielder is in talks with another Premier League club after being told he will be a fringe player in the upcoming season.

Bent believes this is a transfer Benitez should consider as he explained why Winks would be a shrewd acquisition.

"I think if we could get him on the budget we have got, with Rafa in there too, I think that would be a good addition," he told Football FanCast.

"He’s quick, he’s fast, he’s young, I think it would be good for Everton to get that sort of player in."

Winks progressed through the Spurs academy as a youngster and has spent his entire playing career at the club.

He is currently under contract until 2024.
