Former Everton star blasts Premier League official Jon Moss for 'sarky comments' on pitch

Former Everton midfielder Dan Gosling has taken aim at Premier League referee Jon Moss for what he considers to be "disrespectful" behaviour.

Gosling accused the experienced official of belittling some of his Bournemouth teammates during their match with Sheffield United on Sunday afternoon.

Despite taking the lead through Callum Wilson, Eddie Howe’s side fell to a 2-1 defeat after goals from Billy Sharp and John Lundstram handed Chris Wilder’s men all three points at Bramall Lane.

But Gosling believes Moss showed his side 'no respect' and made a number 'sarky comments' throughout the 90 minutes.

"The ref didn't help. Giving soft fouls away and little comments to two or three of the lads didn't help as well really,” Gosling, who left Everton for Newcastle in 2010, told the Daily Echo.

“I thought it was very disrespectful what he was saying. It was just the little niggly ones and then the little sarky comments.

“The officials talk about respect at the start of the season and there was zero respect from Jon Moss on Sunday.

“I thought he was a disgrace."

Before adding: “During the game, yeah. I think he should really come out and apologise because I thought he was a disgrace.”

The ECHO contacted the Premier League who declined to comment on the story.

But the Daily Echo reports that Bournemouth are in continued dialogue with the Premier League over the alleged comments from Moss.
