Former Everton loanee Royston Drenthe's career takes another surprise twist

Former Everton loanee Royston Drenthe's career has taken another interesting twist as he has now turned to acting.

The winger joined the Blues on loan in August 2011 but his spell at Goodison Park was littered with controversy, with the club choosing to not make the switch permanent.

The ex-Dutch international's career continued to meander until 2016 when he decided to retire from the game having been unable to find a club - before coming out of retirement two years later to sign for Sparta Rotterdam.

In that time Drenthe launched a rap career under the name 'Roya2faces' - but has now taken another twist towards acting.

He confirmed that he will appear in crime drama Mocro Maffia, and has shared multiple posts to his Instagram page on his excitement with the role.

The 32-year-old shared a clip from the upcoming series and believes fans should be ready to see another side of him.

The post from the former Everton man read: "The time has com .....After a long silence, may I FINALLY announce that I can be seen in the MOCRO MAFIA series!

"I'm super excited about my participation in the series and can't wait to amuse the viewers with my role! I am more than excited to show you this other side of Royston but I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

"So go check it out!"

Drenthe made 27 appearances for Everton in all competitions during his time at Goodison Park, scoring four goals in that time.
