Former Everton loanee opens up on Carlo Ancelotti's summer transfer window wish

Former Everton loanee Djibril Sidibe has revealed that Carlo Ancelotti wanted him to stay at Goodison Park last summer.

The right-back joined the Blues temporarily from Monaco for the 2019/20 campaign and quickly became a regular fixture in the line-up after the arrival of the Italian at Goodison Park in December 2019.

In all competitions, the France international made 28 appearances for the Blues before returning to Monaco at the end of the campaign - where he has similarly been a regular.

And the 28-year-old has now opened up on his exit from Merseyside, and confirmed that Ancelotti in fact wanted him to stay at Goodison.

Sidibe told Le10 Sport : "My first wish was to continue in the Premier League.

"When you play at Anfield or Old Trafford, you see the fans and the structures, it’s the best for a football fan.

"Carlo Ancelotti wanted me to stay. The clubs did not find an agreement and I returned to Monaco where the coach immediately said, ‘I’m counting on him’."

Everton will be on the hunt for a right-back once more in the coming summer transfer window, with a long-term replacement for Seamus Coleman high on the agenda.
