Former Everton favourite Tim Cahill sends coronavirus message after Premier League postponement

Tim Cahill insists the decision to postpone Premier League football is the right one.

Football across England was called off until April 3 at the earliest after a number of emergency meetings on Friday as the country tries to control the coronavirus pandemic.

And former Everton midfielder Cahill says that football must take a back seat as people try to ensure they deal with the situation.

He told Football Focus: “I think it’s bigger than football. You’re talking about society, you’re talking about health, which is the most important thing.

"For me, it goes far beyond football. It goes to schools, it goes to working masses.

“The awareness is getting raised even more but how to deal with the situation is the biggest question mark. In football, it’s just a game whereas I think society is more important.”
