Former Everton defender Joleon Lescott signs 'one-game' deal with Spanish team

Spanish fourth-tier side Racing Murcia have announced the signing of former Everton and Man City defender Joleon Lescott.

The 38-year-old centre-back has been operating as Man City's loans manager since retiring.

He has also done some coaching with England's U21s team and trained with non-league side Telford United.

But now he appears to have signed for another club, though the statement from Murcia was curiously worded.

Murcia released a statement on behalf of their chairman, Morris Pagniello, stating that Lescott would 'play the game in the Copa del Rey against Levante'.

That game is on Wednesday, December 16, with the club having three league matches to play before then.

It is not clear at this stage whether Lescott will play just one game for Murcia against Levante, or whether a more long-term agreement has been reached.

Lescott played over 600 times throughout his career, having also played for Wolves.

He was part of the England side that went to Euro 2012 and made 113 appearances for Everton having been signed from Wolves.

After leaving Goodison Park, he signed for Man City, then played for West Brom, Aston Villa, AEK Athens and Sunderland.
