Everton's former chief executive Robert Elstone is set to quit his job at the top of rugby league.
Elstone, 57, has been executive chairman of Super League since June 2018 but is now on the brink of quitting the role.
The ex-Blues chief exec went into the job charged with negotiating a new television deal for the organisation as well as finding private investment into the game.
But Elstone is said to have survived a vote of no confidence in November and now, looks set to leave his position.
A Super League statement, and reported by the Press Association, said: "Super League can confirm that it has received notice of executive chairman Robert Elstone's intention to leave his position.
"The matter will be discussed by the Super League board and no further comment will be made at this time."
Elstone joined Everton in 2005 before being promoted to chief exec in 2008.
