Former Everton captain Phil Jagielka's son 'signs for Liverpool'

The son of former Everton captain Phil Jagielka has reportedly signed for neighbours Liverpool.

According to the Daily Mail, Zac is a versatile forward and is well thought of within the club’s academy having joined from a grassroots junior team.

The 13-year-old is said to be "an all-round sportsman who also excels at golf, but sources believe he has a future in football".

Jagielka senior, 38, is now the oldest outfield player in the Premier League having returned to previous club Sheffield United at the start of last season after 12 years at Goodison Park between 2007-19.

Snapped up from the Blades by David Moyes for £4million, Jagielka went on to play 385 games for Everton, scoring 19 goals.

Although initially deployed in midfield and at right-back, the Sale-born player went on to become a stalwart at centre-back and was captain for his last six years at the club following the retirement of previous skipper Phil Neville.

Everton’s most-capped England player, having represented the Three Lions on 40 occasions during his time with them, one of Jagielka’s most memorable moments in a royal blue jersey came when he netted a spectacular last-minute equaliser against Liverpool in front of the Kop with a 30-yard volley on September 27, 2014.
