Former England Rugby captain Lewis Moody to share leadership secrets at Business Showcase South West

Retired England Ruby captain Lewis Moody will be talking about the challenges of leadership at a free business event in Bristol this month.

Lewis, who is now a director of leadership organisation Extreme Leaders, is taking part in a panel event at the Business Showcase South West on October 23.

He will be joined by Extreme Leaders director Alan Chambers, a former Royal Marine and explorer; Wayne Hoyle, former UK Special Forces; and entrepreneur and explorer Dr Neil Counihan.

The group will be taking part in a 45-minute chat with former Barclays director Mark Hatcliffe; they will discuss leadership and plans for two of the team to attempt Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton’s ill-fated expedition to Antarctica.

Neil said: “We are excited to discuss our forthcoming Shackleton 2020 ‘Unfinished Business’ project, where two of our team aim to complete a never-been-done before expedition to Antarctica to put Britain’s explorer, adventure and leadership credentials back on the world stage.”

Mark said: “What a wonderful opportunity we have at BSSW to hear from leaders who have battled in the past with adversity and setbacks but triumphed in many and varied ways to succeed in their chosen fields.”

The Business Showcase South West is taking place at Ashton Gate Stadium and thousands of businesspeople are expected to attend, according to the organisers.

The event also includes networking sessions, seminars and keynote presentations. This year’s speaker line-up includes BBC Apprentice winner Mark Wright, the Grand Pier’s Michelle Michael and Google’s Victoria Mooney.

There are also seminar sessions with entrepreneur Sandy Lucky; PR gurus Evelina Jankauskyte and Hannah Thomas-Barrah; business expert Philippa Haynes; and chief executive of Ignition Samantha Rowe.

The event takes place from 9.30am to 3.30pm. For information on booking free tickets, visit www.businessshowcasesouthwest.com.
