Former England manager Sam Allardyce tipped to appear on Strictly Come Dancing

Sam Allardyce is reportedly set to take part in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing after the first set of contestants were accidentally revealed this morning.

The 64-year old has been out of work since being sacked by Everton in May 2018, where he guided the Toffees to an eighth place finish in the Premier League, and might be swapping dugouts for the dance floor.

Iain Lee, radio presenter, was taking part in an interview on 'Good Morning Britain' today where a slip of the tongue saw him reveal the names of three rumoured contestants - including 'Big Sam'.

The official announcement is set to be made on 'The One Show' in due course but the cat appears to have been let out of the bag as to who will be taking part.

Lee was on Good Morning Britain with hosts Ben Shepherd and Kate Garraway where he appeared to reveal the first few names that could make up Strictly's Class of 2019.

He said: "They are going to announce the first three people on a show called The One Show - it's going to be Sam Allardyce, Jamie Laing and Anneka Rice."

Puzzled, Shepherd replied: "They are announcing it later and you have already announced it" to which Lee replied: "Sorry One Show! Sorry Alex Jones!"

Shepherd and Allardyce have taken part in Soccer Aid together during recent years and the GMB host admitted he knows the ex-England boss "quite well".

Allardyce took the national team job for just 67 days winning his only game in charge, a 1-0 victory over Slovakia in England's opening 2018 World Cup qualifier, before he was controversially dismissed.

A newspaper investigation claimed he gave advice on how to 'play the rules' regarding player transfers and that he was willing to represent a Far East firm.

His next role would take him to Crystal Palace where he led the Eagles to a 14th-place finish before taking the job at Goodison Park, his latest managerial post.

'Big Sam' has plenty of experience on the football pitch, but will be putting his own footwork to the test should his participation in Strictly be confirmed.
