Former England boss Sam Allardyce lined up for shock return to management

Sam Allardyce is ready to resurrect his international career with a shock move to India.

Big Sam only lasted 67 days and one game in charge of England before being dismissed by the FA after a newspaper sting which exposed him giving advice on methods of getting around rules regarding player transfers.

But the 64-year-old would love to manage again, especially on the international stage after seeing his England tenure cut short.

It’s why he finds himself on a short list to replace another Englishman Stephen Constantine who was in charge of the Indian national side for the past four years before being sacked.

There were more than 250 applications for the job - one which has a history of appointing from within English football with Bob Houghton and Joe Kinnear previously having taken on the job.

Phil Brown who was Allardyce’s number two at Bolton and who is now manager of Indian Super League side Pune City would love to see Big Sam involved in India.

He said: “The international side is climbing the rankings ladder. It’s on the up which is fantastic seeing as the ISL was only launched in 2014.

“You would think that in the next few years there will be massive strides made. I’ve spoken to Sam and he told me that the job does interest him.

“It would be great to see him back at that is the top level of football. Who knows he could do for the game out here?”
