Glenn Hoddle has suggested Marcelo Bielsa isn't planning for Leeds United's future because of his contract situation.
The Whites boss continues to sign one-year contracts at Elland Road, which has been the case since he walked through the door in 2018.
The short-term deals leaves his future under scrutiny every season, although the Argentine has never ruled out a long-term stay with the club.
At the age of 65, Bielsa is showing no signs of letting up during his debut season in the Premier League.
Leeds have already become Bielsa's longest-managed club, which also highlights the often short-nature of his managerial style.
Bielsa's style of football has been questioned after Leeds were battered 6-2 at Old Trafford and the Whites boss insisted he would not adapt his philosophy despite their poor defensive record.
As a result, Hoddle believes that Leeds' biggest problem is the short-term approach Bielsa may be taking, as a result of his contract.
“The slight problem if you’re being a bit cynical is I’m not sure what contract he is on,” Hoddle told his podcast.
“I think he is a person that goes 12 months at a time. That is not someone who is thinking of next season, and planning.
“So that’s a bit frightening to think that it is now or never and it isn’t worrying about the future – his or the club.
"There will come a time – and it is the sign of a good coach – to change things in order to survive. He might have to pull the reigns in at times.”
