Former England boss delivers Leeds United transfer verdict

Former England manager Sam Allardyce has spoken about how Leeds United could look in the Premier League if they win promotion via the play-offs.

Whites are one goal up in their Championship play-off semi-final with Derby County ahead of the second leg at Elland Road on Wednesday.

Should they win, the Whites will take on either Aston Villa or West Bromwich Albion in the final with a place in the Premier League at stake.

Allardyce has now explained Marcelo Bielsa will need to add four or five quality players if they reach the top fight.

“I think you look at the spend of Fulham and Huddersfield [Town],” Allardyce told talkSPORT.

“Huddersfield managed to stay for one season and then failed miserably. Fulham went past £100m and failed.

“You have the fans and then you have the owners, and then the owner and manager.

"If you’re looking at relegation are the owners going to stick by the manager to bring them back?

“You’ve got to try and put together a team and buying 10 players who don’t know each other won’t work.

“If I had £120m I would spend the money on four or five players that were quality, not 10.”
