Former Edinburgh University student crowned Miss Scotland 2019

We always knew Edinburgh woman were some of the bonniest in Scotland and now one of them is going to represent the country in the Miss World 2019 pageant.

Keryn Matthew, from Edinburgh, scooped the title of Miss Scotland on Saturday night at the flashy event in Glasgow's Grand Central Station Hotel.

The 24-year-old, who also studied at Edinburgh University, came out on top against 17 other contestants, taking the crown from last year's winner Linzi McLelland.

Contestants had to take part in a number of challenges and fundraising events in the weeks leading up to the final.

Keryn raised money for the Alzheimer Scotland charity after her grandfather suffered from the chronic neurodegenerative disease, reports The Daily Record .

Let's keep our fingers crossed for Keryn as she heads to Thailand this December to represent Scotland at the pageant.
