Former Eagles’ RB Wendell Smallwood was most sought after player on the waiver wire

The Wendell Smallwood era had run its course in Philadelphia, but that doesn’t mean that personnel men around the league weren’t keeping their eye on the inconsistent back. Despite getting waived by the Eagles, Smallwood wasn’t going to be out of a job long and according to Field Yates of ESPN.com, the Delaware native was the most sought after player on the waiver wire.

All four situations made sense for Smallwood, but Washington has the most running back depth out of all four teams that showed interest. Smallwood will play a role for the Redskins against the Eagles this Sunday and could be the second or third back on the depth chart.

Smallwood rushed for 850 yards and five rushing touchdowns during his career with the Eagles.
