Richeie Towell has signed for Salford City on a two-year deal.
The former Dundalk star spent the last two seasons on loan with Rotherham but has been released by parent club Brighton.
“I’m really excited to join Salford City, I know it’s a club with a lot of ambition,” he said.
“Ever since I first watched the documentary last year, you can see that the club is going in the right direction.
“It has the right people on board and I’m really excited to be a part of something special.”
And Towell continued: “I want to add to what the team has already been doing.”
Salford have just been promoted into the Football League but Towell is already targeting a move up to League One.
“With the ambitions the club has, to get promoted is definitely one of them,” he said.
“We’ve just been promoted last year so it’s a big task, but I’m sure with the people involved with the club it’s something that we’re well capable of.”
Salford boss Graham Alexander said: “Richie is a great addition. He’s still a young player with good ambitions and plays with loads of energy and good aggression.”
The club is part owned by Manchester United legends Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, David Beckham, Phil Neville, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt.
