Former Dolphins nemesis Kevin Mawae endorses Zach Thomas for the HOF

The Pro Football Hall of Fame is an incredible place. Between all of the history, all of the legends, all the memorabilia and all of the fans, Canton can be a pretty overwhelming place to be. How awesome is Canton? Where else in the world would you find a longtime New York Jet campaigning for a Miami Dolphin to enter the Hall of Fame during their induction speech?

That’s exactly what we saw last night when newly inducted center Kevin Mawae took the stage for his induction speech. Mawae cast an endorsement in the direction of former Dolphins linebacker Zach Thomas, stating he was one of the smartest linebackers to ever play the game. Mawae would detail the instructions he received from Bill Parcells at the time — and they left very little to doubt.

“Bill Parcells said ‘If you don’t block (Zach) Thomas, we won’t win the game,'” said Mawae.

It is difficult to know when Thomas will finally get his call to Canton, Ohio. Make no mistake — it will come. Thomas has the accolades, the stats and the respect of his peers. But a few more open endorsements during induction speeches sure wouldn’t hurt the cause! Congratulations to Kevin Mawae for his induction into the Hall of Fame and a heartfelt “thank you” from Dolphins fans everywhere for helping to advance Zach’s cause.
