Former Dolphins LB Stephone Anthony reunites with Adam Gase in New York

The Adam Gase experience in New York has been met with general optimism through Gase’s first eight months on the job. The Jets have been aggressive spenders and have a young quarterback whom Gase can groom. New York is positioned to be a contender long-term if all goes well.

If that sounds familiar, it should. It is the same position the Dolphins were purported to be in upon Gase’s arrival in 2016. Granted, the Jets’ roster is more talented than Miami’s was in 2016, so the optimism in New York is generally warranted.

Furthermore, Gase has tried to avoid some of the mistakes he made during his three seasons with the Dolphins — but as with every coach in the NFL, he still loves “his guys.”

The latest example is former Dolphins linebacker Stephone Anthony, who signed with the Jets. Anthony is the latest Gase project to reunite with the head coach in New York, following in the footsteps of QB Luke Falk.

A linebacker position became available in New York after starting linebacker Avery Williamson went down with an ACL injury in the team’s preseason contest against the Atlanta Falcons last week. Williamson will miss the season as a result.
