Former Dolphins LB Stephone Anthony cut by Falcons

One of the many Miami Dolphins not brought back for the 2019 campaign was linebacker Stephone Anthony. The former Clemson Tiger was a 1st-round pick by the New Orleans Saints back in 2015 (31st overall). Anthony thrived as a rookie before position changes and injuries derailed his tenure in New Orleans, culminating with him being traded to Miami in September of 2017.

Anthony played in 24 games for the Dolphins over two seasons before hitting the free agent market after the Dolphins declined his 5th-year option for 2019. As it turns out, a return to the NFC South isn’t the change that Anthony needed.

The Atlanta Falcons have cut Anthony in favor of defensive back Jalen Myrick — less than a month after the Falcons inked Anthony to a deal in the first place. Anthony will now look for a 4th chance at life in the NFL, while the Miami Dolphins are busy attempting to sort out their very crowded linebacker group before the start of the regular season.
