Former Dolphins guard Richie Incognito tries out for Raiders

The tumultuous career of former Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito has taken another turn. Incognito, whose legacy as a member of the Dolphins will be forever tied to the infamous “Bully-gate” with Jonathan Martin back in 2013. But Incognito’s drama wasn’t left in Miami — Incognito transitioned to Buffalo for the next several seasons before unceremoniously retiring and sitting out all of 2018.

Even away from the field, Incognito has stayed in the news. Incognito battled mental health issues in spring of last season and at one point was involuntarily committed for a psychiatric evaluation. Then in the fall, Incognito was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after threatening to shoot several funeral home employees.

But now Incognito wants back into the game. A report from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo states that Incognito was in Oakland Monday, working out for the Raiders. A vacancy on the team’s offensive line was created when the Raiders traded Kelechi Osemele to the New York Jets as part of a swap of 2019 NFL Draft picks on March 10th.

Needless to say, Incognito’s recent track record eliminates him from any consideration from the Dolphins, who could potentially use some reinforcements of their own on the offensive line. Not that Incognito would ever be invited back to Miami after the way things ended the first time around — but this looms large as a shoe that should drop any time, now that signings are not counted against the 2020 compensatory pick formula.
