Former Dolphins DE Mario Williams arrested, charged with trespassing

Former NFL defensive end Mario Williams was arrested on Tuesday and charged with trespassing at a woman’s home in Houston. Reports indicate that Williams allegedly gained entry into the home of the woman — with whom Williams shares a child — by copying a garage door opener without her permission in order to confront her about their son’s iPad.

Williams was arrested shortly thereafter and subsequently released on $100 bond.

Williams has been ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation after the incident, which violates a restraining order against Williams granted to the woman. That restraining order was processed in May of this year.

Williams last played in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins in 2016, starting five games for the Dolphins that season. The Houston Texans made him the No. 1 overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft.

Records indicate Williams is due back in court on Aug. 27.
