Former Dolphins coach Adam Gase expresses regret in tenure with Miami

This morning, Brian Flores took to the podium as the Miami Dolphins’ new head coach for his second career press conference with the team. But the man whose job he filled, Adam Gase, also had some time at the podium here in Indianapolis. And he had some interesting words of hindsight regarding his tenure with the Dolphins.

It’s an interesting bit of retrospect for Gase, who developed a bit of a reputation during his tenure with the Dolphins for deferring blame in other directions a little too often.

And while Gase did not specify which events or circumstances he would have liked to have gone a different direction on in hindsight, there’s no shortage of missteps that helped culminate in his dismissal from the team earlier this year.

Gase was hired by the New York Jets on January 11th after the team flirted with college coach Matt Rhule and former Packers coach Mike McCarthy in the days prior.

His familiarity with the AFC East division will certainly help Coach Gase as he tries to move forward in New York. His parting gift to Dolphins fans is admitting he has his share of the blame in the way things ended in Miami.

Better late than never, as the saying goes.
