Former Dolphin Reshad Jones arrested after police say he was walking around with loaded gun at gas station after 4 a.m.

Former Miami Dolphins star safety Reshad Jones was arrested Wednesday after police say they found him with a loaded handgun near a Davie gas station shortly after 4 a.m., according to an arrest report.

Jones was seen with a gun in his hand, walking around gas station parking lots at the intersection of Griffin Road and State Road 7 before police arrived, according to the arrest report. Davie police officer Clint Burns said Jones was walking across the street when they made contact with him, and Burns noticed a handgun sticking out of his right front pants pocket.

The report states Jones was difficult with authorities, unable to provide a concealed weapons permit and appeared under the influence of an unknown substance with a heavy odor of alcohol.

Jones was arrested at about 4:45 a.m. and charged with carrying a concealed weapon. He is no longer listed as an inmate at Broward County Jail, an indication he posted his $1,000 bond.

Jones' 10-year run with the Dolphins ended when the team released him in March.

Jones was a fifth-round pick by the Dolphins in 2010 and became one of Miami's most accomplished defenders during his career as a two-time Pro Bowl selection with 21 interceptions, 10 1/2 sacks and six defensive touchdowns.

Jones' four interception returns for touchdowns are tied with Dolphins great Zach Thomas for the most in team history. His six total defensive touchdowns trail only Hall of Fame defensive end Jason Taylor, who had nine.

Jones' 10 1/2 sacks are also second in team history among defensive backs. He finished his Dolphins career with 736 tackles (571 solo), three forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries.

However, Jones struggled to stay healthy after two shoulder surgeries later in his career that limited him to 24 games from 2015-19. He also failed to adapt himself into new coach Brian Flores' defense and Miami's rebuilding effort.

Jones made the Pro Bowl in 2015 and 2017.
