Tom Lasorda has been hospitalized and is in intensive care in Orange County, the Dodgers announced Sunday morning.
Lasorda, 93, attended the Dodgers' Game 6, championship-clinching win over the Tampa Bay Rays in Arlington, Texas, on Oct. 27. He was admitted to the hospital nearly a week ago. The team said he is "resting comfortably."
The former Dodgers manager has remained a fixture at games over the years since retiring in 1996 and still holds an official title within the organization: special advisor to the chairman. The 2020 season was his 70th with the club, dating back to his time as a pitcher in the 1950s.
He became Dodgers third-base coach in 1973 and manager in 1976. He spent 21 seasons at the helm, winning the World Series in 1981 and 1988 and two NL manager of the year awards. He was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997 and had his No. 2 retired at Dodger Stadium.
