A former BBC Radio DJ has said that the organisation is “driven by fear”, following the sacking of DJ Scott Mills.
On Monday (30 March), the 53-year-old presenter was sacked from his role following allegations about his personal conduct.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday (31 March), Nihal Arthanayake, who worked at the company for over two decades, said that the BBC is “terrified of the papers”.
“ I'd be interested to see more transparency from the BBC and the process they went through to get to this decision,” said Arthanayake, who left the corporation last year after previously criticising it for being “unfit for purpose”.
A BBC spokesperson said in a statement that “while we do not comment on matters relating to individuals, we can confirm Scott Mills is no longer contracted and has left the BBC”.
