Bella Thorne has said she identifies as "pansexual".
The actress said she doesn’t define love based on gender or sexual identity.
The 21-year-old, who previously considered herself to be bisexual, explained to Good Morning America that “you like what you like.”
Speaking to television presenter Juju Chang, the former Disney child star said: “I’m actually pansexual and I didn’t know that. Somebody explained to me really thoroughly what that is.”
The Big Love star went on to explain what the term means, describing it as when a person likes “beings”.
“You like what you like. Doesn’t have to be a girl or a guy or a he or she or they or this or that. It’s literally you like personality,” she said. “You just like a being.”
LGBT+ rights charity Stonewall defines the term as “a person whose romantic and/or sexual attraction towards others is not limited by sex or gender”.
Pansexual individuals are open to relationships with people who do not identify as strictly men or women, and pansexuality therefore rejects the gender binary,
This can include those who identify as transgender, non-binary, intersex and more.
At just 13 years old, Thorne catapulted her way to fame as Cece Jones on the Disney Channel's hit, Shake it Up.
Thorne is currently in a relationship with Italian pop star Benjamin Mascolo and she posted pictures from a holiday with the singer in Sicily last month.
She was also known to have previously dated internet personality Tana Mongeau and American rapper Mod Sun.
