Former Denton Police station goes up for action as huge interest reported

A former police station in Greater Manchester has gone up for auction with a guide price of £190,000.

The former facility on George Street in Bredbury is due to go under the hammer along with more than 90 other properties and plots of land at Pugh's auction this month.

The period red-brick station covers around 2,000 sq ft over two floors - and people have already made enquiries about the site.

Pugh managing director Paul Thompson said: “There’s been a great deal of interest in the site. Not only is it on a great location in a thriving residential neighbourhood in Bredbury, but it is also a handsome building with a significant heritage that and historic importance to the town.

“It would be great to see the old police station become an asset to the community again. Subject to gaining the necessary planning consent, there is a great deal of scope for a new use for the building and it would make excellent residential accommodation.”

Since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic in March, Pugh has sold more than 190 lots totalling over £20m at its auctions, which have been held on the firm’s online platform.

The firm’s next auction, featuring properties and land across the UK, including the former Bredbury police station, will be held on October 21.
