Former Dell CFO drops price on Montana ranch with film ties

April 26--Former Dell Chief Financial Officer Tom Meredith has adjusted the price on a pair of Ovando, Mont., ranches, including a 612-acre property seen in the Oscar-winning film "A River Runs Through It."

Sited along the banks of the Big Blackfoot River, the ranch of movie fame includes a 5,000-square-foot log mansion with four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, a clubhouse, a 100-year-old restored barn and a horse stable. A salmonfly hatch found on the property featured prominently in the 1992 drama, which starred Brad Pitt and Craig Sheffer with Robert Redford as the director.

Spanning 4,300 square feet, the clubhouse boasts a catering kitchen, a hand-carved wet bar and a game room set under voluminous cathedral-style ceilings. An outdoor pavilion near the river has a stone fireplace, a catering kitchen and an outdoor shower.

Listed for as much as $15 million in 2013, the ranch is now offered at $11.5 million.

The other property, a 550-acre ranch known as Buffalo Trail Ranch, is listed for sale at $5.75 million, down from $7.5 million. The pastoral setting is highlighted by 1.5 miles of riverfront, a riverfront deck, open meadows and a renovated 20th century settler's cabin.

Other ancillary structures include three guest cabins centered on a large bonfire pit.

Meredith acquired the properties through a series of transactions in the 1990s, records show. He and his wife, Lynn, maintain a full-time residence in Austin, Texas.

Keith Lenard of Hall and Hall is the listing agent for both ranches.
