Former Dawg Isaiah Crowell Visiting Raiders on Thursday

NFL free agent and former Georgia Bulldog RB Isaiah Crowell is going to visit the Oakland Raiders on Thursday. The New York Jets released Crowell following their splash free agent signing of RB Le’Veon Bell.

The Oakland Raiders are one of the most running back needy teams in the NFL. Their current backfield situation features only Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington. Marshawn Lynch is a question mark to return after he spent much of 2019 on IR. Lynch is more likely to return, since the Raiders decided to return for their final season in Oakland. Next year, Jon Gruden and the Raiders are headed to Las Vegas.

The Raiders would provide a large role for Crowell, the former Cleveland Browns and New York Jets RB. Of course, this depends on if the Raiders spend one of their three 1st round picks on RB Josh Jacobs. At a minimum, Crowell will be a valuable back-up for the Raiders, who could be trusted in any rushing situation.

Another reason the Raiders are pursuing Crowell must be his incredible performance vs. division rival the Denver Broncos in 2018:

NFL’s Ian Rapport first reported the visit:

ESPN considers Crowell among their top remaining NFL Free Agents.
