Former Dallas Cowboys receiver Terry Glenn dead

Former Dallas Cowboys receiver Terry Glenn was killed in a car accident Sunday night.

He was 43.

The accident occurred at 12:18 a.m. Glenn's vehicle left his lane of traffic and struck a concrete barrier that divides the express lane and the regular lane, according to the Irving, Texas police. The vehicle rolled and the driver was ejected. The cause of wreck is undetermined at this time. A passenger suffered minor injuries.

A native of Columbus, Ohio, Glenn starred in college at Ohio State.

Glenn was picked seventh overall by the New England Patriots in the 1996 NFL draft.

Glenn famously clashed with Hall of Fame coach Bill Parcells as a rookie. Parcells referred to him as "she." But Glenn became an instant star, catching 90 passes for 1,132 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie to help the Patriots advance to the Super Bowl.

At the time, his 90 receptions were the most ever in a single season by a rookie in NFL history.

Glenn would catch Tom Brady's first touchdown pass in New England in 2001.

Before the 2002 season, the Patriots traded Glenn to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for two fourth-round draft picks.

He played one season there before the Packers traded him to the Cowboys, where he reunited with Parcells.

He played in Dallas from 2003 to 2007, recording two more 1,000-yard seasons in 2005 and 2006.

Glenn missed the first 15 games of the 2007 season and had been unable to even practice due to preseason arthroscopic knee surgery. He was released in the off-season.

Glenn remained in North Texas after his career and started the 83 Kids Foundation.

He leaves behind a new fiancee and six children _ Terry Jr., 20, Natalie, 14, Samantha, 12, Christian, 10, Vanessa, 8 and Greyson, 6 months.
