Former curry house in Sherwood set to become a Turkish restaurant

It's all change at a former Nottingham Indian restaurant, which is set to reopen selling Turkish cuisine.

Instead of poppadoms and curry, diners can expect kebabs and pide (a Turkish flatbread) when the new venture opens in Hucknall Road, Sherwood.

A banner has gone up outside the property, previously The Viceroy, giving no clue about the name, who is behind it or the opening date.

The Viceroy restaurant, which specialised in Punjabi food, was officially opened by the then Lord Mayor of Nottingham in August 2007 and belonged to Rotarian John Landa, who dedicated the restaurant in memory of his father Dharsan Singh Landa.

Last April plans for 14 apartments, a coach house and two family properties at the site of the restaurant and the adjoining Hillcrest Garage, off Hillcrest Grove were approved by Nottingham City Council.
