Former Craigholme School buildings up for sale in Glasgow's southside

The premises of former school is up for sale in Glasgow's southside... And it's being described as the ultimate "heritage opportunity."

Craigholme School in leafy Pollokshields was one of Scotland’s last remaining girls’ private secondary schools until it closed last year.

The site comprises three handsome villas and two semidetached houses positioned to the west of St Andrew’s Drive.

Craigholme was opened by Mrs Jessie Murdoch as Pollokshields Ladies School in 1894. It closed last year due to falling pupil numbers and financial difficulties.

Savills Head of Residential Development in Glasgow Jamie Doran said:  “This type of development opportunity is attracting strong interest from developers and investors, due to its strong heritage credentials and prime location.

"Its attractive leafy setting and good quality housing stock, in addition to its proximity to Glasgow’s vibrant amenities, has ensured Pollokshield’s desirability as a place to live.  Craigholme itself has a rich history, and is well known by many from the city, having been founded as a school in 1894 by Mrs Jessie Murdoch."

The premises is on the market for £2.5million. A closing date has been set for October 21 due to "exceptional interest".
