At first, the Price Cutter Charity Championship was supposed to be the first Korn Ferry Tour event to have spectators, but that didn’t happen because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At least it was going to have Tony Romo participate in it, right?
Well, not anymore.
The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and current CBS NFL analyst dropped out of the event after completing several holes at Highland Springs Country Club in Springfield, Missouri on Thursday.
The Korn Ferry Tour tweeted Romo withdrew after playing four holes due to a wrist injury. Romo had a lingering wrist injury coming into the event which caused him to skip Wednesday’s Pro-Am.
According to a news release from the PCCC, Romo — who was playing on a sponsor’s exemption — tore cartilage in his left wrist and received a cortisone shot last week.
He was 1 over when he ended his day.
“The last thing I want to do is withdraw early from a golf tournament,” Romo said in a release. “That’s something that’s not OK.”
Romo, 41, had exited the American Century Championship a couple of weeks ago following a wrist issue on the Saturday of that made-for-TV event.
