Former Corrie actress Catherine Tyldesley tipped to win Strictly after impressive first performance

Former Corrie actress Catherine Tyldesley and Johannes Radebe danced a solid Viennese waltz to I Got You Babe by Sonny and Cher - and they're already being tipped to lift the Glitterball trophy.

The pair earned an impressive first score of 20 from the judges and are 'a force to be reckoned with' according to head judge Shirley Ballas.

New judge Motsi Mabuse said: "You two are just a beautiful, tall, elegant couple. And you managed to create an atmosphere."

And Shirley praised: "You my darling are going to be a force to be reckoned with."

On Twitter viewers rushed to heap praise on their performance.

"Maybe a bit premature in my opinion but my Strictly winners are @jojo_rabede and @Cath_Tyldesley ...Love em," said one.

"That was absolutely beautiful. So graceful. Alfie will be so proud of his mummy. What a stunning routine," enthused another fan.

"My winners," commented another.
And another Strictly viewer said: "These two were meant to dance together.. I think they're ones to watch this year!"

Catherine is Johannes' first celebrity contestant after he joined the show last year in the professional dancer chorus line-up.

The mum-of-one, who has a four-year-old son Alfie with fitness trainer Tom Pitfield, revealed that she'd been feeling nauseous while training for Strictly Come Dancing .

"I wasn't sick, I didn't vomit on you yet. I wretched," she said in a video clip on her Instagram.

Cath, 35, who played Eva Price in Corrie from 2011 to 2018, left the cobbles last year after being involved in a harrowing storyline which saw her ex Aidan Connor take his own life and the barmaid fight his family for custody of their baby Susie.
