With a life of experience that has taught her to cherish all the positives, could spiritual and fun-loving Pearl be just the tonic Walter needs?

Dawn’s first appearance on Hollyoaks will be on Thursday, September 9, on E4 and again on Channel 4 on Friday, September 10.

Dawn played Alison, the mother of Kirsty Soames (ITV)

The actress is best known for her roles in acclaimed stage productions including, Follies at The National Theatre and Little Shop of Horrors.

But soap fans may recognise Dawn from her time in Corrie where she played Alison, the mother of Kirsty Soames, back in 2012 to 2013.

Kirsty, played by Natalie Gumede, was the violent ex-girlfriend of Tyrone Dobbs with the mechanic recently discovering she died of an aneurysm and found dead in her flat.
