Former Coronation Street star shows off her chic new look after leaving the street

She played nurse Rana Habeeb in Coronation Street - and Bhavna Limbachia looked a far cry from her role at the Rosamund Street Medical Centre at a launch event for the Manchester Fashion Festival.

She was regularly seen on Corrie in Rana's nurse's uniform and green parka, but Bhavna showcased a chic new look at Cloud 23 at the The Hilton Hotel on Deansgate.

The 35-year-old actress, whose character was tragically killed in the collapse of the Underworld factory in March, looked smart in a long burnt orange coat and wide-legged black trousers with a geometric patterned top.

Bhavna is an ambassador for the festival, a celebration of Manchester’s growing fashion credentials which showcases the latest trends with an array of catwalk shows from the city's designers and rising stars including  Luke Marshall with his Brand Dysfunctional and Sophie Hampson.

Fashion graduate Bhavna was joined by fellow ambassador and fashion designer to the stars Zeynep Kartal, whose designs have been worn by Lady Gaga, Cheryl Cole, Amanda Holden and Tess Daly.

Zeynep said: "This year my collection was inspired by Barbra Streisand calls for action on women’s heart health.

"The collection is all red colour ‘go red for women’ to raise awareness on women’s heart health as this is very important to me.”

Zeynep will showcase her spring/summer 2020 fashion collection at the festival at the Hiilton on Saturday October 12 along with Mena Hamoodi, another celebrity favourite who showcased last year as a rising star.

Other Manchester fashion houses to showcase on the catwalk will be Forever Unique, Native Youth, Neon Rose and Junq Couture.

This year’s event will have the theme Metallic Movement, inspired by the Industrial Revolution and the women’s rights movement, and guests are welcome to join in the theme by either adding a piece of metallic jewellery, a metallic belt or embrace the theme head to toe.

Performing at this year's event will be The Wanted singer Max George and Coronation Street and West End star Victoria Ekanoye.
