Former Coronation Street actress lands movie role with Hollywood star Kelsey Grammer

She won a large fanbase as Rana Habeeb in Coronation Street and now actress Bhavna Limbachia has taken on a new role in a film with American TV and film icon Kelsley Grammer.

Actress Bhavna stars with Cheers and Frasier legend Kelsey in Miss Willoughby and the Haunted Bookshop.

The project, which follows history professor, detective and adventurer Elizabeth Willoughby, who investigates a series of hauntings at an antique bookshop, has just wrapped filming in York.

Speaking of her delight at working on the film following lockdown she shared a photo of herself and Kelsey who she described as a joy to work with.

"An absolute joy working with @mrkelseygrammer," said Bhavna.

"So grateful to have been working during these uncertain times.

"The film and TV industry are slowly getting back on their feet, lets hope the same will follow for theatre #covid19 #lockdown #film #tv #theatre."

"Yaaaas! Get it Bhav," cheered fellow former Corrie star Victoria Ekanoye who played Angie Appleton in the soap.

"Yesssssssss babes," praised Catherine Tyldesley.

"Omg so cool!!! Well done," said another follower.

Bhavna, 36, played nurse Rana in Corrie from 2016 until last year when her character was tragically killed in the collapse of the Underworld factory on what was supposed to be her wedding day.

As she lay in the rubble she and fiancee Kate Connor managed to say their vows before Rana tragically passed away.

Bhavna said she was hoping to be a voice for the Asian LGBT community with the 'Kana' love story.

The nurse was in turmoil over her feelings for Kate despite being married to chef Zeedan Nazir when they fell for each other.

Rana was shunned by her family after they discovered she had been having an affair with best friend Kate.

Before Corrie her first television role was playing the character Alia Khan in the BBC comedy series Citizen Khan.

Kelsey, who plays a retired US marine who raised the orphaned Willoughby and runs the family business in the new film, has praised the safety measures taken amid strict compliance with COVID-19 health guidelines.

He told Variety : “This has been a terrific experience.

"Although COVID presented a new set of challenges, we were able to work very effectively through new standards of film production.

"I would urge my family of actors at SAG-AFTRA to take a page out of the British playbook; we can responsibly get back to work.

"I have nothing but high praise for everyone associated with this production, from the director Brad Watson to the costume, make-up and hair folks to the young people who are just getting started in this marvellous profession.”

The film, the first in a franchise series, began shooting four weeks ago and also stars Caroline Quentin (Dickensian), Steven Elder (The King) and Tara Fitzgerald (Game of Thrones).

Emmy Award-winning actor Kelsey, 65, shot to fame in the 80s as Harvard-trained psychiatrist Dr Frasier Crane in the NBC series Cheers followed by its hugely successful spin-off Frasier which ran for 11 seasons and 21 years.

He is also the voice of Sideshow Bob The Simpsons and Stinky Pete in Toy Story 2.
