A former Philadelphia police officer has claimed that two cops forcibly entered his home, handcuffed him, punched him in the back of the head and threatened to send him to jail.
Kevin Booker, 54, was accused of using fake $10 bills to pay for a cheesesteak and pizza that he claims he never even ordered.
"This is the kind of thing that makes it harder for people to trust the police," Mr Booker told Philly.com of the January 8 incident. "And it makes people like me angry. I used to be a police officer."
Mr Booker now plans to sue the Philadelphia Police Department for the incident.
“I said, 'I used to be a police officer,' and the one officer said, 'I don't care. It doesn't matter. You probably got fired anyway,'" he told the outlet.
The former officer retired from his post in 2000 after sustaining a knee injury from a fall.
Mr Booker later tracked down the delivery person who contacted police. The Sorrento's Pizza employee apologised for the ordeal and explained that someone used the Mr Booker's address to order food, then paid with the fake currency and ran.
Both officers involved in the altercation are reportedly on duty. The department's Internal Affairs is currently investigating the officers involved.
