Former Colts WR Dontrelle Inman to sign with Patriots

Former Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Dontrelle Inman has agreed to a contract with the New England Patriots, per multiple reports.

While there was interest from the Colts in potentially re-signing Inman this offseason, the veteran wide receiver will be taking his talents to New England. The contract agreement was first reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Inman was a crucial part of the Colts offense down the stretch of the regular season as they made their playoff push. We served as the running mate opposite T.Y. Hilton for the majority of the second half.

In nine games (three starts) for the Colts in the regular season, Inman recorded 28 receptions for 304 yards and three touchdowns. He was strong in the team’s two postseason games catching all eight of his targets for 108 yards and a touchdown.

The Colts have an abundance of wide receiver competition to watch this offseason and with the additions of Devin Funchess and Parris Campbell, along with the expected return of Deon Cain (ACL), Indy might have felt it unnecessary to bring back Inman at all costs.

Regardless, the 30-year-old was a very important piece to the Colts offense and will now be joining former Colt Phillip Dorsett in New England.
