Former Colts TE Ryan Hewitt to sign with Titans

Former Indianapolis Colts tight end Ryan Hewitt is expected to sign with the Tennessee Titans, the latter announced Thursday.

Hewitt spent the 2018 season with the Colts arriving as a free-agent signing in September following his release from the Cincinnati Bengals during the final roster cuts.

The Colts picked him up on a one-year deal in which he served as a blocking tight end. Rarely did Hewitt ever see time as a pass catcher—even when the room was thin with depth.

He did wind up catching one pass, though, which came in the form of a touchdown against the Titans in the regular-season finale that helped the Colts earn the final wild-card spot in the AFC.

The Colts felt against re-signing Hewitt this offseason likely because of the crowd in the tight end room. Once Jack Doyle and Eric Ebron return healthy, there will only be so many spots up for grabs by several players.

Hewitt will stay in the division, though, heading south to Nashville where he will see the Colts twice a year.
