Former Colts OL coach Dave DeGuglielmo to join Dolphins staff

The Indianapolis Colts parted ways with offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo this offseason, and it appears he has found a new gig with the Miami Dolphins.

As the Colts wanted to find a coach that stresses teaching rather than motivating, DeGuglielmo found himself without a job following a season in which he helped turned Indy’s offensive line around.

He will now return to Miami for his second stint in South Beach working as an analyst aiding Dolphins offensive line coach Pat Flaherty, per Hal Habib of The Palm Beach Post.

The Colts fired DeGuglielmo this offseason in favor of hiring Chris Strausser as the offensive line coach and Howard Mudd as a senior offensive assistant.

The Colts offensive line did well under the command of DeGuglielmo and head coach Frank Reich, who has a lot to say in the protection plans each week. The unit seemed to turn around its misfortunes almost overnight becoming one of the best units in the league.

However, Indy felt they needed a coach that was more into teaching. While DeGuglielmo does well motivating the unit, the Colts felt it best to bring in a coach that has experience in teaching the fundamentals and techniques.

DeGuglielmo has been in the league since 2004 and was previously the Dolphins offensive line coach for three seasons (2009-11).
