Former Colts DT Al Woods to sign with Seahawks

Former Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle Al Woods has agreed to contract terms with the Seattle Seahawks, per multiple reports.

With the deadline having passed for free agent signings impacting the compensatory pick formula, several former Colts will likely begin finding new homes.

Woods spent the last two seasons with the Colts working as the nose tackle on early downs. He was a starter in 2017 and for the first half of the 2018 regular season. However, his snaps decreased as the second half moved along as the Colts moved in favor of Grover Stewart and Margus Hunt.

While Woods didn’t provide Indy with much help as a pass rusher, he is a stout run defender working as the nose tackle or shade. In those two seasons, Woods appeared in 30 games (24 starts) recording 68 tackles (30 solo), six tackles for loss and one sack.

The Colts decided against re-signing the 32-year-old likely hoping for some development from the aforementioned Stewart, who is currently the only nose tackle on the defensive line.
