Former Coleraine midfielder Brad Lyons joins Morecambe in loan deal

Blackburn Rovers midfielder Brad Lyons has joined Morecambe on loan for the remainder of the season.

The former Coleraine man is hoping to put himself "in the spotlight" after securing a move to the League Two side.

And he could get that chance this weekend when Morecambe take on Premier League giants Chelsea in the third round of the FA Cup.

"I feel privileged to be here," Lyons told the club's website.

“Morecambe's a good club that's on the up and fighting for a place in the play-offs at the minute so I can't wait to get started.

"Hopefully I can do well, help the club and maybe put myself in the spotlight.

"I know League Two is a very competitive league. I've watched loads of games at this level and it's going to be physical.

"There are a lot of good players within the league so I'm looking forward to the challenge."

Lyons joined Blackburn from Coleraine in 2018 and also had a loan spell with Scottish club St Mirren.

He was recently included in Tony Mowbray's first-team squad for a Championship game against Rotherham.

Morecambe currently sit seventh in EFL League Two, just five points off Carlisle in first.
