Award for Krishna, NRN & Padukone

Former chief minister SM Krishna, Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy, and ex-badminton player Prakash Padukone will get the Kempe Gowda International Award.

The award, which carries a Rs 5-lakh cash prize and a citation, has been instituted by the Nada Prabhu Kempe Gowda Heritage Area Development Authority and will be presented to achievers in different fields starting this year. Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai will present the awards during the celebration of the 513th birth anniversary of Kempegowda, the architect of Bengaluru city, on Monday at Vidhana Soudha.

CN Ashwath Narayan, minister for higher education and authority vice-president, said: "The three achievers have contributed in their own unique way to the development of Bengaluru and its fame."

A high-level committee headed by State Startup Vision Group chairman Prashanth Prakash made this selection. Industrialist Mohandas Pai, Vivekananda Youth Movement founder R Balasubrahmanyam, and retired IAS officer MK Shankaralinge Gowda are committee members.

Narayan met Krishna at his residence on Saturday on behalf of the government and informed him about the award. He said he'd be glad to accept it.
