Former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao hospitalised with hip injury

Former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao suffered a hip fracture at his farmhouse in Erravelli, in the periphery of Hyderabad, late on Thursday night and was admitted to Yashoda Hospitals in the city early on Friday.

KCR suffered the injury after he apparently slipped in the bathroom and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. After investigations, it was found that he suffered a hairline fracture and may have to undergo surgery.

The former CM has been staying at his Farmhouse in Erravalli since his government was defeated in the recently concluded Telangana Assembly Elections-2023. He vacated the Pragati Bhavan (now renamed Jyotirao Phule Praja Bhavan) on the day of results and has been meeting MLAs and other party leaders at his farmhouse.

Former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao would require left hip replacement for the same, stated Yashoda Hospital’s management, where he is admitted. His condition is stable.

After a fall in the bathroom at his residence on Thursday midnight, he was subsequently taken to the hospital in Somajiguda.

“On evaluation, including CT scans he was found to have left Hip fracture [Intracapsular Neck of femur fracture].He would require left hip replacement for the same and the usual course of recovery for such cases is expected to be six to eight weeks,” as per the health bulletin issued by the hospital’s management.

It added that he is being constantly monitored by a multi-disciplinary team including Orthopaedic, Anaesthesia, General Medicine, and Pain Medicine.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi prayed for KCR’s speedy recovery and good health. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mr. Modi, said “Distressed to know that former Telangana CM Shri KCR Garu has suffered an injury. I pray for his speedy recovery and good health”.

CM Revanth enquires about the health of KCR

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has enquired about the health of former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao who is admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad.

Mr. Rao fell down at his home last night due to which he was brought to the hospital. The police department had ensured green channel for the movement of the former Chief Minister from his home to the hospital. On the instructions of the Chief Minister, Health secretary visited the hospital to enquire about the health of Mr. Rao where he interacted with the treating doctors and the hospital management.

Doctors informed the Health secretary that Mr. Rao suffered a hip fracture due to the fall and his health condition was said to be stable. The senior official directed the hospital management that best care should be provided to the former Chief Minister during the course of his hospitalisation.

Mr. Revanth Reddy on being briefed about the condition of Mr. Rao directed the Health secretary to continue to monitor the treatment of the former Chief Minister closely and keep him updated.
