Former Clyde boss Jim Duffy recovering after suffering heart attack

Former Clyde manager Jim Duffy is recovering in hospital following a heart attack at the weekend.

The 61-year-old, who took charge of the Bully Wee between 2011-2014, was taken to hospital on Saturday after suffering from chest pains.

Duffy is currently manager of League One side Dumbarton and also managed Greenock Morton after leaving Broadwood six years ago.

This morning, Clyde posted on their official Twitter account: "Our best wishes to former manager, Jim Duffy as he recovers after suffering a heart attack."

And Duffy has spoken of his ordeal, telling the Scottish Sun: "I felt an excruciating pain in my chest when I got up on Saturday morning.

“It was so severe that I went to hospital and tests showed that I had suffered a heart attack.

“It was a shock to the system when you hear it but I have been well looked after since.

“In these circumstances it’s worse for your family but my wife Joanne and kids Paul and Kim have been coping OK."

A statement from Duffy's current club, Dumbarton, read: "The news has come as a real shock to all at the club, but all indications are that he is making positive progress towards a recovery.

"As well as Jim, he and his family and many friends are in our thoughts at this difficult moment.

"We would also like to thank all NHS staff who are working to ensure Jim comes through this setback and recovers in full.

"We will post more official information as and when we get it."
